Maths

For Maths, we use the White Rose Scheme.

Children learn many mathematical skills during their year in F2. For example they learn to subitise, to count, to add and subtract, to measure, to recognise and order numbers, to make patterns and to use lots of mathematical language.

Learning is done through fun, practical activities during our daily skills carousel session.

Resources used during the maths session are then put into our maths area for children to access during their active learning time. In this way the skills and knowledge are taught by adults and then practised during the following weeks. This gives children the opportunity to revisit their learning, to practice their skills and to apply their knowledge in different ways. Our maths areas, both inside and outside have lots of open ended resources for children to explore. This allows for endless learning opportunities whilst encouraging imagination, creativity and problem solving.

We have been learning about repeating patterns. We made repeating pattern fruit kebabs. They were healthy and delicious.
