Day 4

Day 4 - Thursday 6th June 2024

Rise and shine! An early start was needed today as we had a boat to catch. This meant enjoying breakfast before making our lunch for the day and hurrying down to the launch for a ride on Derwentwater Lake. The weather was great, the lake was so calm that the reflections of the mountains could be seen on the water – much to Mrs Evans disappointment nobody got splashed due to the calmness of the water! Although she did catch a glimpse of some fighter jets flying through the valley.

We then began our walk for the day, setting off through the nearby woodlands towards to old railway line which has been transformed into a very accessible walking route. The path took us past the River Greta, over plenty of bridges and we caught several sightings of the A66. The walk was very scenic and lasted for the best part of 5km. We then stopped for lunch and an ice-cream at the coffee shop in Threlkeld.

Our walk then took us to Castlerigg Stone Circle. The sun was finally shining and we had great views all across the surrounding mountains. We then took the short walk back into Keswick to get ready for out meal out at the Old Keswickian.

An excellent meal was enjoyed by all and staff and members of the public were commenting on how polite and respectful the children were. This has been a running trend all week as we’ve been out and about and the children have really done Asquith proud. After the meal we walked to the park for the last time to use up any remaining energy the children had.

Back at base children were frantically packing before the awards for the tidiest rooms were announced. This has been hotly contested all week and never before have so many 10s been scored. Well done to Thomas and Joshua M. who took the prize for the boys and to Amelia, Lela, Lily and Charlotte who won for the girls.

A fantastic week has been had by everyone and the staff are so proud of all the children for how they have represented our school.
