DAY 3

Day 3 and another excellent breakfast to start the day. No bus was needed today as our mode of transport was our feet.

We made sure we were equipped for the day before setting off through the fields taking in the sights of the peak district. Many fields were crossed full of lambs, wildflowers and cows. We even had a confusion that we had walked to Paris with a sighting of the Eiffel Tower but it just turned out to be an electricity pylon. We stopped for a rest in the small hamlet of Foolow, taking in the sights of the duck pond.

When we arrived in Eyam we ate our lunch in the park before heading to the Eyam Museum. We learnt all about the plague and how Eyam successfully quarantined to prevent further spread. We even got the chance to make our own posies to keep the plague away.

The return leg of the journey was much tougher. Despite the hills, tired legs and difficult styles all the children showed great determination to put one foot in front of the other and complete the walk. A big shout out to the group who showed excellent cooperation by successfully carrying a huge stick all the way from Eyam.

After showers and packing, we all enjoyed another lovely meal. We then got the chance to experience the outdoor park for the last time before settling down with a hot chocolate and film. The agenda for tomorrow is to head to 'The Devil's Bottom' caves in Castleton before making the journey back to Asquith.
