  • Pizza Making Weekend Thanks to Nonsuch

Tue 28 Sep 2021 Corinna Brown

Some lucky children were given pizza making kits last Friday! Thanks to Nonsuch, a local arts charity, we received 25 kits. Nonsuch have designed this creative project with funding from The Thomas Farr Charity, the Alec Dickson Foundation, The Western Power Festive Fund & Warburtons.

The children have lovely smiling faces in the photos! The pizzas look amazing! One family said they were not sure if their child enjoyed making the pizza or eating it the most! We hope you try this again as your children enjoyed it so much!

The kits came in their own box, with dough already made, cheese, tomato sauce and full instructions.

If you were not lucky enough to get a kit, you could still have a go at making your own pizza - so much cheaper than buying one and so much fun! You can make your own dough or buy a base, spread tomato sauce and then go to town with different toppings! Cook and enjoy!

  • Mansfield Townscape Heritage Project - Asquith Pupil Makes an Impact

Tue 02 Feb 2021 Corinna Brown

Lydia has made a tremendous impact on the Mansfield Townscape Heritage Project by recording a story told to her by her grandad about Mansfield.

Lydia took part in Oral History training alongside 9 other girls from year 5/6 in December 2020. They all gained skills so they could interview an older person about a memory they have of Mansfield.

Lydia chose to interview her grandad. As he lives a distance away and we are in a lockdown, they talked over the telephone and Lydia wrote his memory down, about the Queen visiting Mansfield for her Silver Jubilee.

Lydia then made an excellent recording of his story, full of expression, carefully paced to be very easy to listen to. (Unfortunately we can not add the audio file at the moment but we are working on it!)

Pete Brown, Community Participation Coordinator for the Mansfield Townscape Project was so impressed with Lydia's recording he wanted to do something extra special for her so she has been gifted a very impressive recording microphone! He said Lydia is "so fluent and her pacing is perfect. A star is born!".

Thank you to Lydia and her family for taking the time to create this memory for the Townscape Heritage Project.
