Lydia has made a tremendous impact on the Mansfield Townscape Heritage Project by recording a story told to her by her grandad about Mansfield.
Lydia took part in Oral History training alongside 9 other girls from year 5/6 in December 2020. They all gained skills so they could interview an older person about a memory they have of Mansfield.
Lydia chose to interview her grandad. As he lives a distance away and we are in a lockdown, they talked over the telephone and Lydia wrote his memory down, about the Queen visiting Mansfield for her Silver Jubilee.
Lydia then made an excellent recording of his story, full of expression, carefully paced to be very easy to listen to. (Unfortunately we can not add the audio file at the moment but we are working on it!)
Pete Brown, Community Participation Coordinator for the Mansfield Townscape Project was so impressed with Lydia's recording he wanted to do something extra special for her so she has been gifted a very impressive recording microphone! He said Lydia is "so fluent and her pacing is perfect. A star is born!".
Thank you to Lydia and her family for taking the time to create this memory for the Townscape Heritage Project.

Please can we ask Parents/Carers to avoid using/parking on Asquith Street when they are dropping off /collecting their children from school. This is a narrow street and for health and safety reasons it is important to keep the use to a minimum.
Please can we also ask individuals to be considerate towards the people who live around the school. If you need to travel by car to bring/collect your child from school please be mindful of how and where you park ie don't block driveways, don't park close to junctions etc
Thank you
