Tubs to Pubs, an initiative run by Green King to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, raised £10,916 last year. They collected 240,000 tubs from across the country. Last year we were part of that initiative and starting in January 2026, we will be again. Due to the building works we will not be able to store them all for a big photo finish but every week we will take them to the Oak Tree pub and work in partnership with them again.

The sweet, cracker and biscuit tubs we all buy for Christmas cannot go in your blue recycling bin – so this is an excellent way to improve your recycling rate as well as support Macmillan Cancer Support.
Save your tubs over the Christmas period and bring them into school when we return in January. Take them to the front office where they will be collected together by the office team – thank you to Mrs Cox and Ms Kelly!
If you have eaten all your chocolate before Christmas then bring your tub into school, Mrs B will store them somewhere until January!
Just before the start of the summer holidays we heard that our local Co-op store had secured funding for our school to support our encouragement and love of reading. We had worked together to make an application to the national pot of money that the Co-op gives to the local community. The Store Manager supported our application and we secured the maximum amount of £250.
Every child in school was encourage to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge, through the local library. We welcomed Chris Jones from Inspire, who delivered an assembly to the whole school about the Summer Reading Challenge. Years 2,3 and 4 also walked to Forest Town library too and many joined the library and were given a library card.
Six of our children took part in the Summer Reading Challenge and brought in their certificates to show us that they had red six books over the holidays and they were given a round of applause in the Special Mentions Assembly.
We had took a bit of time to purchase their prizes, (sorry about that!), a £10 Book Token each. We hope they enjoy spending their Book Token and choosing their next book to read. Well done. Hopefully more children will join in next year!
