" Asquith Primary School was awarded an Outstanding School Award at the recent awards ceremony at the Palace Theatre. Asquith has got involved in International Clean Up Day for the last five years. Last year the Nurture Group did a litter pick on Fisher Lane Park with the Friends of Fisher Lane and then spent the half term learning about waste and how to recycle. We hope to continue the good work by improving our recycling in the school"

  • WOODLAND SKILLS WORKSHOP

    Thu 28 Sep 2017

Pupils came with their parents and grandparents  to take part in the free woodland skills workshop at a local forestry commission site.

Despite the wet weather everyone learned how to safely cut down saplings that needed thinning out, using bow saws, pruning saws and loppers and then scavenged for logs and tree trunk sections to take back to school.  The tree trunk sections will be used to provide seating and stepping stones for the Nursery and Foundation children and the sapling sections will be used as den building materials.

We are hoping to return to the forest to try a winter activity - what out for the next opportunity!
