  • Lambourne End, Essex Residential

    Mon 24 Feb 2025

Well we have had a fun day, setting off at 8am to drive to Essex!

We are here with children from Wynndale to have 5 days of fun and games.

We have ended our day with seeing if eggs can fly, a team game and in between we've had a tour of the site, played Crossing the Swamp and done a ropes course.

Tired out we've spent time in our rooms and are now trying to go to sleep, always a challenge on the first night!

    More to follow tomorrow!

Well done to all the year 6's who took part, those who chaired the meeting, and contributed their opinions!! Well done all!

  • Cooking Club with year 2

    Fri 07 Feb 2025

We have had support from Sandra Alvey from Mansfield District Council for this half term with a cooking club. Each Wed after school the children have worked with Sandra and Mrs Nessa to create various meals to take home for their tea. They have practised their chopping and mixing skills and created some wonderful things like blueberry muffins, flavoured couscous, pizza, cereal desserts and a sausage plait! How wonderful do these photos look.

Hopefully Sandra can come back again and run another Club next year. Thank you to Mrs Nessa for stepping in to help and support.

  • Sweet Tub Collectioni

    Wed 22 Jan 2025

We have all been doing a great job collecting sweet tubs! Three girls today have helped put all the tubs together from all the different classrooms and we have made several big towers with them.

Mr Gregory's class have currently collected the most! But we are still collecting for a short while longer. So finish those last few sweets, bring in the tubs and make sure your teacher knows to tell Mrs B as she is still keeping a list of which class brings in the most! Lets see if we cna make those towers taller!

  • Cooking Club with support from Sandra from Mansfield District Council

    Thu 09 Jan 2025

On Wednesday Sandra Alvey from MDC, supported by Mrs Nessa ran a Cooking Club. The children from year 2 made pizzas and cereal desserts that they took home to eat for their tea! Great fun was had by all and Sandra was very impressed with the children's cutting skills and what they had remembered from when she ran a workshop in school last year. Well done to those children who signed up for the Club and came to teh first session.

  • Severn Trent talk to Year 3 /4 about All Things Water!

    Thu 09 Jan 2025

On Wednesday 8th January we welcomed Chloe and her team from Severn Trent. Chloe supported the learning about the topic of water, by delivering a workshop about sewage and how we need to be careful about what we flush down the toilet! The children then were set a challenge to clean a sample of dirty water!

Chloe then talked through the afternoon about the brand new planters that have been installed around school. We are very lucky as we are the only school in Mansfield to receive these planters. They are very special as the use the rainwater from our roof to water the plants, instead of that water going down the drain! This is part of a whole programme of activities Severn Trent are undertaking around the Mansfield area to reduce flood water in the area. Chloe then lead an assembly for KS1 and KS2, talking about the work Severn Trent does.

    Pictures to follow!

  • Christingle Service

    Wed 18 Dec 2024

On Monday 16th December a Christingle Service was held in school. Most children in school took part, learning about how the whole Christingle represents the birth of Jesus.

Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:

    • The orange represents the world
    • The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ
    • The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
    • The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.

We could not have done this service without the support of our local supermarket, The Co-op, who provided us with the oranges. Oak Tree Tesco also provided support. Our sincere thanks to them.
